Great Women behind Great Products: Stine, Creator of the Hola Luna Moon Journal
Tell us a little bit about the Hola Luna Moon Journal and why you created it
Hola Luna Moon Journal is created to give people a little break in everyday life, to sit in peace and reflect upon their life and dreams. The moon is constant in her flow, which makes her a perfect reminder when to set intentions, when to release what no longer serves us, and in general to check in with a natural cycle. I created the moon journal because I needed the perfect journal to keep me in-check with my dreams and thoughts in a soft and magical way.
What are the ways you keep yourself calm and grounded when life gets busy?
I really use my journal a lot to get things from my head down on paper. But besides journaling I spent a lot of time starring at nature. Watching birds in the sky, listening to the wind in the trees and feeling into the light and the sound of nature. Every morning I start my day by going outside and just sit and stare, listen and feel into the vibe of the day. No phone, no distractions. Only me, nature and a warm cup of coffee.
How does your current skincare routine look like?
I am very simple. Cleanse my face with only water most days morning and evening. I use a crème with SPF for the day and before bedtime I use serums or oils and a gua sha or roll for my face. Once a week I use a facial scrub and a clay mask.
Do you have other routines that you follow?
Ohh where do I start. I am a big lover of routines. As I follow and live with the cycle of the moon, I have many routines and rituals connected to her cycle flow: Kundalini yoga and meditation practice at new and full moon, journaling every day, swimming in the ocean all year, but my new favourite is definitely the one where no phones is allowed before 9.am and I just sit in peace and take in the day.
What makes you feel beautiful?
Beauty to me is very closely related to authenticity. I feel beautiful when I am living according to my values, when I am being my true self, when I am not overstepping my own boundaries and when I am giving myself the love and recognition, I believe I deserve instead of looking for it outside myself. That is when I am feeling most beautiful.
How can we invite more calm and beauty into our lives?
I think first step is really getting in touch with our nervous system. What calms it down and what kind of beauty makes us in awe. No nervous systems are the same, and therefore calmness and beauty means something different to each of us. For me this staring at nature without doing anything – no music, no picture, no phone, no company, is the best way to invite in calmness and beauty. But if you have asked me to do it 3 years ago while I was living a way more hectic and busy life, I would have been way to restless and it would have had a stressing effect on me, because my nervous system would have reacted.
What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading: The Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss, Mary Magdalene Revealed by Meggan Watterson and Great Cosmic Mother by Monica Sjöö.
What is your no.1 tip for someone who wants to make journaling part of his/her day but struggles to make it a regular habit?
Such a good question, I think having my journal AND a pen on the table next to my bed as the only thing makes it very easy for me to do it either as a morning or evening thing. No other books, just the journal like a kind of “good morning” and “good night” reminder from the moon.
Did you know? The Hola Luna Journal changes colour every year.
The colour of the new journal is still a secret. We can’t wait.
